TASK
Two places. One shared identity.
Au and Heerbrugg are close together – yet a connecting light experience was missing, which would make both town centers perceivable as a unit and visibly strengthen the regional identity.
- 02
SOLUTION
History becomes light.
MK Illumination Switzerland was inspired by the Rhine Glacier, which shaped the terrain 29,000 years ago. 3D stars in uniform shape, varying sizes, and strategic placement create a luminous connecting axis – precise, poetic, unmistakable.
- 03
RESULT
One concept. Five applicants. One clear winner.
The concept impressed a skilled jury and prevailed against four competitors. The reason: It tells a true story – and turns it into an experience that awakens a sense of discovery and fosters community.
